Grown high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Maca (Lepidium meyenii) has been used by the Inca and earlier Peruvian cultures for more than 1,500 years. It is grown without chemicals or herbicides, and the roots are sun-dried upon harvest.
Gelatinization is a process that removes the starch from the maca root making it easier to digest. The gelatinization essentially provides a “pre-digested” energy source that is more readily absorbed by the human gastrointestinal tract.
